Bangkok Sungai Kolok Train Times and Fares
Travel on the Bangkok Sungai Kolok Train takes you from Thailand's capital city to the border with Malaysia in the South-East of Thailand close to the city of Kota Bharu and the gateway to the lovely Perhentian Islands.
There are two sleeper train services a day that travel on this route in either direction.
From Janauary 2023, all trains on this route now originate/teminate at the new Bang Sue Grand (Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal).

Before travelling on these services, you should be aware that you will be travelling through the South-Eastern provinces of Thailand (Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat), that have seen major unrest in the past few years, with sometimes daily bombings and killings!
Although tourists are not directly targeted, the trains have been targeted and bombings on the trains and the railway tracks have occurred in the past and will no doubt happen again in the future.
So, as well as not putting yourselves in danger, trains have also sometimes been cancelled at short notice when attacks on the lines or trains have happened.
Please seek the latest information on the area before travelling and / or find another route.
If you where planning on visiting Kota Bharu or the Perhentian Islands, it may be better to travel down by train to Butterworth on the west coast of Malaysia, then catch a bus over to the east coast from the bus station in Butterworth, which is next to the train station.
