Travel on the KTM Intercity Train from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur is cheaper than the faster ETS Electric service and there are now three services a day to choose from.
These services are mainly used for longer journeys, but you can also catch these trains from Ipoh to KL Sentral Railway Station in Kuala Lumpur.

The Ekspres Rakyat, Train number 1 is an all seater air-conditioned express service, with just first and second class seats available.
Tickets for this train cost :
1st class seat - Adult 40MYR - Child 24MYR
2nd class seat - Adult 22MYR - Child 15MYR
The Senandung Langkawi express train number 1, is made up of mostly sleeper cars but also has 2nd class and economy (3rd class) seats. All carriages are air-conditioned.
Tickets for sleepers cost :
Lower Berth Adult 34MYR - Child 27MYR
Upper Berth Adult 28MYR - Child 21MYR
Seats cost :
2nd class - Adult 22MYR - Child 15MYR
3rd class - Adult 12MYR - Child 8MYR
The Senandung Sutera Train 25 originates in Ipoh (so should depart on time!).
It has 2nd class sleepers as well as 2nd class seats available. Prices are as above.
Tickets can be purchased from the ticket counter at Ipoh Station or any other station within Malaysia up to 60 days in advance.
