Padang Besar to Kangar Bus
If you have arrived at Padang Besar Railway Station Malaysia and want to travel to Langkawi Island, a good travel option is to take the Padang Besar to Kangar bus (operated by Maraliner / MyBas), then from Kangar Bus Station, you can take another short bus ride to Kuala Perlis Jetty, where regular fast boats / ferries leave for Langkawi throughout the day.
If you arrive in Padang Besar by train, you will have to take the walkway over the railway tracks which take you over to the main land border crossing.
Just take the stairs up to the first floor and you will see the walkway (between the KTM ticket office and cafe).
Once on the other side, turn right out of the border control area, walk around the roundabout and down the road for a couple of minutes.
The bus stop is a small shelter on the left hand side of the road as you walk down the hill (see picture below).

Kangar to Padang Besar Bus Timetable
If you want to travel in the other direction from Kangar to Padang Besar by bus, departure times are currently exactly the same as from PB.
Buses depart from Kangar to Padang Besar at:
06:00, 07:30, 09:00, 10:30, 12:00, 13:30, 15:00, 16:30, 18:00 and 19:30 (Saturday to Thursday).

The trip to Kangar is scheduled to take around an one hour to cover the 35 Kms distance (the bus takes a detour to Kaki Bukit along the route).
Bus tickets from Padang Besar to Kangar cost 5.30 MYR.
Once you arrive at the Kangar Bus Station, you can then take a bus to Kuala Perlis Bus Station if you are going to Langkawi or you can take a bus to many other destinations such as Alor Setar, Butterworth / Penang, Kuala Lumpur...
