The easiest way to travel from KL to Penang Island is by KTM train from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth station.
From the station it is just a couple of minutes to walk up to the ferry terminal to catch the boat to George Town, Penang.
The ferry only takes 15 minutes to get to George Town, where you can either walk into town (5-10 minutes), catch a bus from the bus station next to the ferry exit or take a taxi.
Please Note : The older Intercity Express Trains have all now been cancelled from 9th May 2016.
