Butterworth to Hatyai Train Schedule - KTM Komuter / ETS / SRT
To travel on the Butterworth to Hatyai train service you will first have to take a KTM train from Butterworth to the Malaysia - Thailand border station of Padang Besar, then connect to a State Railway of Thailand (SRT) train to Hat Yai Junction Station.

Butterworth to Padang Besar Train - KTM Komuter - ETS
The only way to travel from Butterworth to Padang Besar these days is to take one of the cheap KTM Komuter Utara train services (Northern Commuter Trains).
In the past you could take a more comfortabe ETS train, however, these Electric Train Services are now no longer operating on this route.
Padang Besar to Hatyai Train - SRT
Once you arrive at Padang Besar Railway Station (located right on the Thai / Malaysian border), you can continue your journey by a State Railways of Thailand shuttle train to Hat Yai Junction.
There are currently only two shuttle trains a day to Hatyai.
The only other train from Padang Besar is the overnight Padang Besar to Bangkok train which also stops in Hatyai.

How Long does the Butterworth to Hatyai Train take?
The train from Butterworth to Padang Besar takes approximately one hour and 50 minutes.
The train from Padang Besar to Hat Yai Juntion Railway Station takes approximately 45 minutes.
If you time your connections well, you could do the whole trip from Butterworth to Hatyai by train in
approximately
3 and a half hours making it the fastest way to get to Hat Yai
from Butterworth.
Please note: Immigration procedures are completed at Padang Besar Train Station (your passport is stamped out of Malaysia and in to Thailand). The Thai and Malaysian immigration officers usually only come on duty an hour (at the earliest) before a train departs and the train to Hat Yai usually will not depart until all passengers have cleared immigration.
