To get from Bukit Mertajam to Batu Gajah, by far the quickest way to travel is to take one of the fast ETS train services operated by Malaysian Railways Keretapi
Tanah Melayu Berhad (usually known as the shortened versions of KTMB or KTM).
These modern trains can travel up to 140 km/h in service with the duration of the train journey from BM to Batu Gajah around an hour and 45 minutes (much quicker than travelling by bus)

If you want to travel by ETS train in Malaysia, you need a ticket to board the train.
This ticket gets you a reserved seat number (no standing passengers are allowed).
As seat numbers are limited, it is always best to book in advance as ETS services are very popular and can be fully booked well in advance during holiday periods and even at weekends.
