Although not the most direct route, it is possible to catch a train from Singapore to Malacca (Melaka) most of the way!
The first thing you have to do is take one of the new Shuttle Trains from Woodlands Station in Singapore to JB Sentral Station in Johor Bahru.
You then have to travel via Tampin railway station (also known as Pulau Sebang station) and then catch a bus or taxi to Melaka which is around 38 kilometres away (23 miles).
****Please Note : From 1st July 2015, all KTM Intercity trains will no longer be departing from Woodlands Station in Singapore, but will now originate from JB Sentral Station in Johor Bahru.
Trains between Singapore and JB will now be operated by a new Shuttle Train Service.
If you don't quite like the idea of this trip to Malacca by train, you can catch a direct bus from Singapore, straight to Melaka Town.
New Timetable from 18th December 2017 from JB Sentral to Tampin :
From this date, two of the JB - Gemas Shuttle trains have had their route extended and now terminate at Tampin, so now you do not have to catch the ETS train from Gemas to Tampin.
