From 19/05/2016 the two direct KTMB Intercity Trains from Johor Bahru to Ipoh have been cancelled as all long distance Express Trains on the North - South Railway Line have been cancelled from this date.

The first part of the journey from JB to Gemas is by Shuttle Train :
Once you arrive at Gemas, you can connect with the new fast Electric Train Services (ETS Trains)

If you would prefer to travel from JB to Ipoh by bus :
Tickets for the Shuttle Trains to Gemas cost :
Adults : 21 MYR - Children : 15 MYR (for 2nd class Superior Seats).
The ETS Electric Trains from Gemas to Ipoh cost :
ETS Gold : Adults : 59 MYR - Children : 34 MYR
There are no 1st or 2nd class seats on any ETS Trains - they are all the same.
You will have to buy two separate tickets to travel from JB to Ipoh by train.
You can buy tickets at any KTMB mainline railway station up to 60 days in advance.
If you are not in Malaysia or want to save the time and expense of travelling out to the station, you can also book tickets online for a small additional fee.
If you find the trains are full on the dates you want to travel, the other option is to catch a bus from JB to Ipoh.
