Train 52 offers the cheapest sleeping berths out of all the night trains that travel from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, as well a cheap seats in a fan cooled carriage for those who want to travel as cheap as possible.
You will also find restaurant car on this service where you can buy food and soft drinks (no alcohol is sold on Thai trains).
Unless you plan to travel by 3rd class seat, it is advisable to buy your tickets as far in advance as you possible can as this route down to Bangkok is very popular and can be fully booked well in advance during busy times of the year.
