Express DRC services (Diesel Railcars) are made up of just a few carriages offering only seating:
2nd class Air-Conditioned seats cost: 479 THB Adult - 370 THB Child
3rd class fan seating carriages cost: 245 THB Adult - 198 THB Child
Special Express trains offer the most comfortable way to travel between Bangkok and Udon Thani as these are all sleeping berth services with both first and second class air-conditioned coaches.
These trains are now operated using the new Chinese made carriages which came into operation at the end of 2016.
1st class A/C sleepers cost:
Upper Berth: 1,317 THB Adult - 1,089 THB Child
Lower Berth: 1,517 THB Adult - 1,289 THB Child
2nd class A/C sleepers cost from:
Upper Berth: 879 THB Adult - 770 THB Child
Lower Berth: 979 THB Adult - 870 THB Child
Rapid trains offer the cheapest way to travel from Bangkok to Udon Thani but currently only operate with 3rd class fan cooled carriages which can get quite uncomfortable on longer journeys.
