Taking the train from Singapore to Kota Bharu in Kelantan, lets you travel on the scenic "Jungle Railway" that travels through the heart of Peninsular Malaysia.
For those in a hurry you can take the Express night train in either direction, but this way you miss much of the scenery.
For those with more time, there are shuttle services which are much slower, but let you see most of the fantastic jungle scenery along its route.
The nearest railway station to the town of Kota Bahru is Wakaf Bharu, located a few kilometres to the west of town and served by a regular bus.
For alternative transport, you can take a bus from Singapore to Kota Bharu.

Please Note: From 1st July '15, all KTM Intercity trains will no longer be departing from Woodlands Station in Singapore, but will now originate from JB Sentral Station in Johor Bahru.
Trains between Singapore and JB will now be operated by a new Shuttle Train Service.

As these services are now departing from JB Sentral in Malaysia, you no longer have to worry about the two-tier pricing system that was in place.
If you want to catch the Shuttle Train Service from Woodlands to JB Sentral, tickets cost 5 SGD (5 MYR from JB to Woodlands).
