There is a daily ETS Seremban to Butterworth train if you want to travel to Penang Island, with the new Electric Train Services taking around five and a half hours to make the trip to Butterworth, so much faster than the older (and now cancelled) diesel Intercity Express trains that used to run on this route.
Please Note : from 1st of February 2017 a new ETS schedule will be introduced.

All Trains operate on a daily basis.
Both trains are ETS Gold Services (EG numbered trains).
There are currently no ETS Platinum services on this route.
Fares for these ETS Gold trains to Butterworth from Seremban cost :
Adult : 70 MYR
Child : 39 MYR
There are no 1st and 2nd class seats / carriages - all ETS trains in Malaysia have just one type of seating.
ETS tickets for these services can be purchased up to 60 days ahead of your departure date.
You can buy your tickets from any KTM ticket counter at any mainline railway station in Malaysia.
Rather than having to visit a station, it is much easier to book your tickets online.
There is a small administration fee for booking online, but is saves you the time and cost of having to visit the railway station.
If you are travelling all the way to Butterworth to go to Penang Island and the old heritage city of George Town, the railway station is located just a few minutes walk away from the ferry terminal, for boats over to the island.
Ferries leave regularly throughout the day and evening and take just 15 minutes to reach the Jetty in the old part of George Town.
With few services directly to Penang, a good alternative is to take a KTM Komuter Train from Seremban to KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur.
From KL there are many more services a day to Butterworth.
