If you have made your own travel arrangements to get to Thung Makham Noi Pier, passengers are expected to arrive at least 60 minutes before the ferry departs and go to the “Lomprayah” office to confirm their trip.
One-way fares for the fast ferry to Koh Tao cost:
Adult Fare: 750 THB
Childrens Fare**: 375 THB
** Children aged between 2 to 11 are eligible for the child ticket prices. Children aged 11 and above have to pay the full adult ticket price. Children under the age of 2 can travel for free but are expected to sit on the parents lap (if they require their own seat you will have to pay for a childs ticket).
As the Thung Makham Noi Pier is not that easy to get to (with no public transport), the majority of people travelling to Koh Tao use the transfer service run by Lomprayah.
These buses or minivans depart from just in front of the Chumphon Railway Station, departing one hour before the ferry is due to depart.

Transfers from Chumphon Railway Station to the Lomprayah
Ferry departure pier cost an extra 150 THB each.
Another much slower way to travel from Chumphon to Koh Tao is to take the night ferry.
This sleeper service departs from Chumphon Ferry Pier on the Tha Taphap River, 9 km southeast of Chumphon Railway Station.
The night boat to Koh Tao from Chumphon are old cargo ships that have been converted to carrying passengers.
The trip usually leaves around 21:00 on the days that they operate (not every day) and take around 7 - 8 hours to get to Koh Tao.
Tickets cost approximately 600 THB and can be purchased online or at one of the many budget hotels and travel agents in town.
For an extra fee you can also get a minibus transfer to the ferry departure point from various pick up points around the city (Fame Guest House / Axara Tour Office).
For the price of your ticket you get a bunk bed to hopefully get a few hours sleep.
You'll need to bring along your own food and drink for the trip as there are none available onboard.
