You can also take the ETS train from SP to Kuala Lumpur Old Railway Station which arrive there just a few minutes before getting to KL Sentral.

Trains from Sungai Petani to Kuala Lumpur now all travel direct along the North - South West Coast railway line and no longer take the branch line to Butterworth. If you want the fastest way to travel, take the Platinum service as these trains have the least amount of stops along the route (they also tend to leave at the best times).
