To get from Hat Yai to Ban Krut by train, there is just one night sleeper Rapid service available.
All the other Hat Yai to Bangkok trains do not stop off here.
Taking the train to get to Ban Krut beach is a much better option than taking a bus, as any Bangkok bound buses that pass by on the highway, will drop you off here, leaving a long motorbike taxi ride to get you to the beach.
When you arrive a Ban Krut Railway Station, you will have a 10 minute walk to the beach area from here, but as you will be arriving in the early hours, it would be best to take a motorbike taxi to your destination.
If you do want to walk, come out of the station, turn right, then turn left on to the main road down to the beach (past the 7-Eleven).
If arriving in Ban Krut in the early hours is not what you want to do, you could take a train from Hat Yai to Chumphon or Bang Saphan. Spend the night (there are hotels very close to either station), then take the morning local train to Ban Krut.
Seats and sleeping berths on this Rapid service cost the following:
3rd class seat (fan cooled): Adult 205 THB - Child 158 THB
2nd class seat (fan cooled): Adult 329 THB - Child 220 THB
2nd class Day and Night Sleeper - fan cooled carriage:

Lower sleeping berth: Adult 529 THB - Child 420 THB
2nd class Day and Night Sleeper - air-conditioned carriage:
