KTM Train from Johor Bahru to Ipoh

From 19/05/2016 the two direct KTMB Intercity Express Trains from Johor Bahru to Ipoh have been cancelled as all the old long distance diesel trains on the North - South Railway Line have been cancelled from this date.

To travel from JB to Ipoh by train, you will now have to catch a Shuttle Train to Gemas, then connect to a high-speed Electric Train Service (ETS) from Gemas to Ipoh.

Ticket Prices for the JB to Ipoh Train

Tickets for the Shuttle Trains to Gemas cost:

Adults: 21 MYR - Children: 15 MYR (for 2nd class Superior Seats).

The ETS Electric Trains from Gemas to Ipoh cost:

ETS Gold: Adults: 59 MYR - Children: 34 MYR

There are no 1st or 2nd class seats on any ETS Trains - they are all the same.

Booking Tickets for the Train from Johor Bahru to Ipoh

You will have to buy two separate tickets to travel from JB to Ipoh by train.

You can buy tickets at any KTMB mainline railway station in advance (booking periods vary from a few weeks to a few months).

If you are not in Malaysia or want to save the time and expense of travelling out to the station, you can also book tickets online via KTMB or use an online ticketing agent (for a small additional fee).
