Another way of travelling for KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi Island (Pulau Langkawi) is to travel on the ETS KL Sentral to Arau train
operated
by KTM and then take the ferry from the Kuala Perlis Jetty (rather than getting off in Alor Setar for the Kuala Kedah Jetty).
Travelling this way makes the journey a little longer on the train, but the ferry trip from Kuala Perlis to Kuah on Langkawi Island is shorter at just one hour and 15 minutes (rather than the one hour and 45 minutes it takes from Kuala Kedah near Alor Setar).
For people who get a little seasick on these high-speed ferries, this would be a much better choice of departure point, as it is the shortest distance between Langkawi and mainland Malaysia.
