Taking an MRT train to Sungai Buloh from KL Sentral is the best choice at the moment due to the upgrading work going on along the KTM Komuter Line.
To get to Sungai Buloh you have to take the train from the nearby Muzium Negara MRT Station.
You can walk to Muzium Negara from KL Sentral in approximately five minutes (there is a pedestrian linkway between the two stations so you don't have to worry about walking around in the heat outside).

There are city buses that can get you to Sungai Buloh but you are much better off taking one of the more direct trains.
