Platinum Trains: Adult 50 MYR - Children 29 MYR.
Gold Trains: Adult 38 MYR - Children 23 MYR.
Advance purchase is available for these trains and if you want to make sure you get a seat, book as far in advance as possible as this is a very popular route and trains can often be full.
To make an advance booking:
If you arrive at Padang Besar Railway Station without a ticket, you will have to go upstairs to the ticket counter to see if there are any seats still available to purchase.
If the ETS Trains are full or you just want to travel from the Thai border to Taiping as cheaply as possible, you can use the much cheaper KTM Komuter Trains to get to Taiping.
First you will have to take a Komuter from P. Besar to Bukit Mertajam.
From Bukit Mertajam you will then have to change to another Komuter service to Taiping.
This is a much cheaper way to travel, but will take you much longer due to the wait in Bukit Mertajam.
