If the ETS Trains are full or you just want to travel from the Thai border to Taiping as cheaply as possible, you can use the much cheaper KTM Komuter Trains to get to Taiping.
First you will have to take a Komuter from P. Besar to Bukit Mertajam.
From Bukit Mertajam you will then have to change to another Komuter service to Taiping.
This is a much cheaper way to travel, but will take you much longer due to the wait in Bukit Mertajam.
