Taking the ETS Sungai Petani to Parit Bunter train service operated by KTM Berhad (Malaysian Railways) is the quickest way to travel from (SP) to Parit Buntar with the duration of the journey around 35 to 40 minutes.
However, if you are not in a hurry, you can also use the really cheap KTM Komuter Utara train service (northern commuter) on this route (see below the ETS timetable).

By far the cheapest way to get to Parit Buntar from Sungai Petani is to take the KTM Komuter train.
There is no direct Komuter service to Parit Buntar from SP, so what you have to do is:
Take a KTM Komuter train from SP to Bukit Mertajam Komuter Utara interchange station.
From Bukit Mertajam, you then take another KTM Komuter train to Parit Buntar.

To travel from Sungai Petani to Parit Buntar by KTM Komuter train there is no advance booking available or necessary - you just turn up at SP station and buy your tickets for the next departure.
