New ETS Schedule from 1st February 2017 :
From this date there will no longer be a direct ETS service from Gemas to Butterworth.
You will first have to take an ETS Train from Gemas to KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur.
Then an ETS Train from KL Sentral to Butterworth.
Another option is to take an ETS Train from Gemas to Parit Buntar, then a KTM Komuter Train from Parit Buntar to Butterworth.

From 19th May 2016, to travel from the south (ie JB and Singapore) to Gemas you will have to take a Shuttle Train.
So if you want to travel from Johor Bahru to Butterworth by train, you will now have to take three trains : one Shuttle Train to Gemas, then the ETS Train from Gemas to Kl, then on to Butterworth.
Gemas Railway Station is also the junction station of the N -S Line and the Jungle Line.
Advance tickets can be bought from any mainline KTMB Train Station ticket counters or you can book online via the KTM official website or through online booking agents.
If you are using an ETS service to get to one of Malaysia's main tourist destinations, George Town on Penang Island, you will not have too far to go once you arrive in Butterworth station (Penang Sentral).
The station is located just a few minutes walk away from the ferry terminal that takes you on the short trip over to George Town.
