The KTM Tanah Merah railway station (stesen keretapi Tanah Merah) is a railway station on the Malaysia East Coast Line (Jungle Line) located in the state of Kelantan and is served by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) Intercity and Shuttle train services.

Malaysia Railways (known as KTM or KTMB) operate a long-distance Intercity train service along the East Coast Line that runs between Tumpat (to the north) and JB Sentral station in Johor Bahru in the south.
There are also Shuttle train services for shorter journeys that are a cheap way to travel but are much slower (stopping at every station along the route).
To get from Kuala Lumpur / KL Sentral to Tanah Merah by train, you first have to take an ETS train from KL to Gemas where the East Coast Line joins the West Coast Line.
The long-distance Intercity train, Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT), is the only overnight sleeper train service still operating in Malaysia and is a popular way to travel for both locals and tourists.
This train stops at the main stations only.

- Kerambit
- Jerantut (gateway to the Taman Negara National Park)
- Kuala Krau
- Mentakab
- Triang
- Kemayan
- Bahau
- Gemas (change here for the West Coast ETS trains to the north - KL, Ipoh, Butterworth...)
JB Sentral is the end of the line for all long-distance KTM Berhad train services.

If you want to travel by the long-distance Intercity (Antarabandar) train service you should plan ahead and book your tickets as far in advance as you can (especially if you want to reserve a sleeping berth).

If you want to travel by one of the Shuttle trains, you just turn up at the station and buy your tickets from the station ticket counter.
